Our Team

David M. Croskey, CPA founded Croskey Lanni in 1986.   Today he continues as President while actively involved in advising clients in a variety of industries including Real Estate and related construction trades, Material Handling, Insurance, Restaurants, Wholesale, Distribution, Medical, Manufacturing, Technology, Aerospace and a variety of Professionals.  His experience has focused on Accounting, Administration, Operations, Tax and Strategic related matters for privately owned business’ and their respective ownership teams providing leadership in the overall success of operating, buying, transitioning or selling of these business.

Some of the successful projects Dave has worked on in the management advisory and strategic services areas have included owning, operating or fulfilling the CFO responsibilities of a variety of business; supporting or evaluating operations, administration and accounting functions; cash flow, inventory, business startups and turnarounds;  partner relations and documentation;  business and personal goal setting and Diagnostic analysis defining action plans;  Board of Director and Advisory Board leadership and/or participation; and divorce and related transitional family/business management and financial strategies.  Dave has taught and presented a variety of accounting, tax and specific topic classes.

Coinciding with these projects he is an expert in related tax matters, planning, compliance and strategies covering more than 30 years of his hand on involvement and experience.

Dave grew up in Fraser, Michigan and attended Wayne State University on scholarship.  He received 5 letters and was a 2 year Captain of WSU Championship baseball teams also playing Basketball.  Dave recently was inducted into the University’s Hall of Fame. He is co founder of the Dugout Club, a WSU baseball alumni non profit association. He is presently serving on Board of Directors at Forest Lake Country Club.  Dave has continually volunteered and/or provided financial support to a wide variety of religious, community and academic organizations.

Dave is licensed as a CPA in Michigan, Massachusetts and Florida, maintaining membership in the related State Accounting Associations and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Dave is married to Andrea Croskey and they have 3 children.   Dave has 3 children from a previous marriage.  Dave and Andrea enjoy spending time with the children and following the wide variety of athletic, academic, music and dance activities - some of which are out of state.  They also enjoy sports, music, traveling and especially family time.

THOMAS B. LANNI, CPA began his career in public accounting in 1977 at a regional Detroit area CPA firm.  After eleven and one half years, Tom joined the firm of Krentz, Croskey and Lanni as a partner located in Rochester Hills, MI.  The firm now known as Croskey, Lanni & Company, P.C. includes a total of 6 partners and a total of twenty-four team members and operates from its offices in Rochester, MI.

Tom is currently Director of accounting and auditing and has audit, accounting and tax responsibility for clients in the following areas:  construction, manufacturing, insurance agencies, charter schools, statutory audits, ERISA audits, real estate development and various professional and service industries.  Tom’s background and over thirty years of public accounting experience includes providing audit, accounting, management advisory services, litigation support, State court appointed receiver, and representation in bankruptcy proceedings.  Tom also has an extensive background in corporate, partnership and individual tax matters and representation before the Internal Revenue Service.

Tom graduated from Walsh College in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the Detroit College of Business in 1973.

CAROLYN A. JONES, CPA, MBA, MST, QKA is a shareholder and the Director of Taxation at Croskey, Lanni and Company as well as heading up the retirement planning and administration division Barclay Planning Group, LLC.  Carolyn has been employed with the firm since 1994 and became a shareholder in 2000.  Carolyn provides consulting, accounting, and a wide range of tax services including compliance work, trust and estate planning and representation before the Internal Revenue Service on a variety of tax matters.  In addition, Carolyn oversees the personnel function at Croskey, Lanni. & Co.  

Carolyn was born and raised in Pennsylvania.  After high school she attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting and Business Administration.  Carolyn has obtained her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters of Taxation from Walsh College.  Carolyn began her accounting career in the tax department at Peat Marwick, Mitchell & Co., now known as KPMG and has over twenty years experience in public accounting. 

Carolyn became licensed in 1985 as a Certified Public Accountant and received her Qualified 401K Administrator certification in 2007.  Carolyn is an active member in the American Institute of Public Accountants, Michigan Association of Public Accountants, and American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.  She also is member of the Employee Benefits Committee, a division of the MACPA and the Rochester Chamber of Commerce.

CLIFTON F. POWELL, JR. CPA, PFS, CFP® is a shareholder and Director of Business Development, Marketing and Financial Services at the firm.  Cliff joined the firm the 1st of 2007 when his firm Powell & Associates merged with Croskey Lanni.  He began his career in public accounting with a local Detroit firm in January, 1965.  In July of 1970 he formed a partnership with three other CPA’s and practiced from offices in Southfield.  In July of 1974 Cliff and three other CPA’s purchased a small accounting practice in Royal Oak and in 1977 both firms merged.  The merged firms continued in Royal Oak until moving to the current Rochester location in December, 2005.  He served as managing director of the combined firm until merging with Croskey Lanni.  In addition to the traditional accounting and tax services, Cliff spends significant time consulting with clients relative to growing their business, and his responsibilities overseeing the firm’s business development, marketing and financial services. 

Cliff was born and raised in the Detroit metro area of Michigan.  He graduated from Walsh in 1966 and became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 1969.  Cliff graduated from the College for Financial Planning in 1987 and obtained the designation CFP® “Certified Financial Planner”.  In 2001 he obtained from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants the designation PFS (Personal Financial Specialist).  Cliff became licensed as a registered representative in 1995 and presently holds licenses for the sale of general securities, mutual funds and insurance.

His memberships include American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Michigan Association
of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Planning Association, Rochester Chamber, Birmingham
CPA ‘s Small Practioner’s monthly meeting group and advisor to Lake Ogemaw Summer Resort
Association.  He is a former director of the Boys and Girls club of Royal Oak and past president
and director of the Compton Village Civic Association.

Cliff lives in Rochester Hills with his wife Vickie.  Even though work consumes much of his time, he enjoys relaxing at his lake house, boating and spending time with his four grandchildren.

PATRICK M. SWEENEY, CPA is a shareholder and director at Croskey, Lanni & Company, PC.  Patrick has been employed with the firm since September 1997 and became a shareholder and director in January 2008.  His chief responsibilities involve overseeing the growth of the Not-For-Profit and Charter School auditing division at Croskey & Lanni.  Patrick also provides consulting, accounting, taxation, and attestation services to a wide variety of firm clients that include but are not limited to manufacturing and service based industries.  In addition to his extensive work in audit, taxation and consulting, Patrick also heads up our Personnel and Technology areas. 

Patrick has been a lifelong Southeast Michigan resident.  He attended Wayne State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting.  Patrick began his accounting career with an internship for Ford Motor Company in Charleville, France and then continued his growth working for a large material handling dealership as an Assistant Controller.  Desiring to take his industry experiences to the next level he pursued a career in public accounting and became a CPA in 2000.  During Patrick’s tenure he developed a niche for Charter School and Not-For-Profit audits and has grown this specialty into a substantial and important division of Croskey, Lanni & Company.

Being recognized as an expert in the field Patrick frequently speaks at Charter School Seminars and attends the annual MAPSA Charter School Conference.  His services have been sought after by many of the largest charter schools in Michigan.  Patrick is also an active member in the MACPA, AICPA, MSBO and ASBO.

Patrick enjoys spending time with his family and friends.  He is also an active member in his church and enjoys golfing, traveling, and other outdoor activities.  Patrick is consistently growing the charter school niche and adding more not-for-profit and governmental clients to Croskey, Lanni & Company’s diverse client list.  He is also enthusiastic about being a leader in the continual growth of Croskey, Lanni & Company.  Patrick can be reached at (248) 659-5300 ext. 224 or psweeney@croskeylanni.com

ROGER J. DEJONG, CPA is a shareholder and director at Croskey, Lanni and Company.  His responsibilities include accounting, taxation and consulting for clients in the following areas:  Real estate development, engineering, construction contractors and related trades, health insurance providers, nonprofit and governmental organizations, restaurants, health care, insurance, retail, manufacturing, electronic and technological industries, and various professional and service industries.

Roger was born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada.  Roger attended Calvin College and Seminary graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy.  Roger began his accounting career with at a local public accounting firm for a brief period of time before joining Croskey, Lanni and Company.  Roger has accumulated a variety of talents in his many years of public accounting including attestation, management advisory, taxation, not for profit, governmental and a variety of book keeping and accounting software packages.

 Roger became a Certified Public Accountant in 1992.  He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants.
